Agra, India —Some careers are built according to a plan. Others are discovered along the way.
Akankshit Priydarshi’s journey belongs firmly to the second category.
A communication design graduate from NIFT Hyderabad, Priydarshi has spent the better part of his professional life moving between different worlds of creativity — from design and filmmaking to production design, advertising, entrepreneurship and, more recently, business and creative strategy.
What connects these seemingly different chapters is not a particular job title.
It is curiosity.
“I have never really been able to stay interested in doing just one thing,” Priydarshi says. “For me, creativity has always been about understanding the world, seeing possibilities and then trying to build something out of them.”
His professional journey began with design, but it quickly expanded beyond the traditional boundaries of the discipline. His experience in filmmaking and production design exposed him to a very different kind of creative problem-solving — one where ideas have to survive budgets, deadlines, people, locations and the realities of production.
Over the years, he worked as an art director and production designer across feature films, web series and hundreds of advertising campaigns, collaborating with filmmakers and brands and experiencing the creative industry from behind the scenes.
The experience taught him something that no classroom could.
Creativity is not simply the ability to make beautiful things.
It is the ability to solve problems when there is no obvious answer.
That understanding eventually led him into entrepreneurship. Priydarshi went on to build and operate his own design studio in Mumbai, experiencing another side of the creative economy — the side where creativity meets clients, business, negotiation, teams and responsibility.
But the journey did not move in a straight line.
Like many creative professionals, Priydarshi eventually found himself questioning what the next chapter should look like.
He explored business, marketing, strategy and entrepreneurship, including a period of pursuing an MBA internationally. The experience became less about acquiring another qualification and more about understanding himself.
There were moments of uncertainty. There were decisions that did not work out exactly as expected. There were periods of starting again.
But those experiences became part of the education.
“I think every chapter has changed the way I look at the world,” he reflects. “The things that felt like detours at the time eventually became some of the most valuable parts of my journey.”
Today, Priydarshi sees himself less as someone belonging to one particular industry and more as a creative professional capable of moving between disciplines.
Design taught him to communicate.
Film taught him to tell stories.
Production taught him to execute.
Entrepreneurship taught him to take responsibility.
Business taught him to think in systems.
And life, perhaps most importantly, taught him that a career does not have to make perfect sense while you are living it.
This new phase of his journey is increasingly focused on the intersection of creativity, business, strategy and education. While he continues to explore entrepreneurial ideas and creative ventures, his larger ambition is to create work that sits at the intersection of imagination and real-world impact.
For Priydarshi, the future is deliberately open-ended.
And perhaps that is the point.
After years of moving between cities, industries, careers and ideas, he no longer feels the need to define himself by a single destination.
“I don't think I know exactly where this journey is going to take me,” he says. “And honestly, I'm beginning to enjoy that.”
At 32, Priydarshi is entering what he considers one of the most exciting phases of his professional life — not because everything has been figured out, but because it hasn't.
There is still much to build.
Much to learn.
And much to imagine.
For someone whose career has always been shaped by curiosity, perhaps the most fitting next chapter is one that remains unwritten.
And this time, he is walking into it with open arms.
